چکیده

In this paper, we have investigated the interplay between second and third-order nonlinearities in lithium-niobate waveguides with strong waveguide dispersion using uniform linearly-chirped poling patterns at input powers pico-joule range. We implemented accurate unidirectional pulse propagation model to take into account all possible nonlinear interactions inside these structures. particular, period has been designed quasi-phase-match single multiple sum- difference-frequency generation processes. shown how can be used as an additional degree of freedom tailor output spectra chip-based unprecedented way.

Nonlinear Susceptibility and Second Harmonic Generation in Proton- Exchanged Lithium Niobate Waveguides

Lithium niobate (LiNbO3) is one of the most commonly used optical crystals because of its excellent electro-optic and nonlinear optical properties. Ease of waveguide fabrication and amenability to periodic poling has made lithium niobate highly attractive for quasi-phase-matched guided wave interactions such as second harmonic generation (SHG) and optical parametric amplification/oscillation [1...

Nanophotonic lithium niobate electro-optic modulators.

Since the emergence of optical fiber communications, lithium niobate (LN) has been the material of choice for electro-optic modulators, featuring high data bandwidth and excellent signal fidelity. Conventional LN modulators however are bulky, expensive and power hungry, and cannot meet the growing demand in modern optical data links. Chip-scale, highly integrated, LN modulators could offer solu...

Optimized Digital Optical Switch Using Proton Exchanged Lithium Niobate Waveguides

The main emphasis in developing DOS has been on achieving low crosstalk (CT). CT in the order of -30 dB is acceptable in conventional DOS and below that value is hard to achieve. Relatively low drive voltage (or power requirements) is also necessary to optimized DOS. This paper depicts the design of Y-branched digital optical switches (DOS) with optimized on-chip area coverage, reduced driving ...

Chemical bond analysis of the second-order nonlinear optical behaviour of Mg-doped lithium niobate

Second-order nonlinear optical properties of Mg-doped lithium niobate single crystals are quantitatively studied from the chemical bond viewpoint. The results show that the secondorder nonlinear optical response of Mg-doped LiNbO3 single crystals at 1079 nm decreases linearly with increasing Mg concentration in the crystal. This linear correlation is quantitatively evaluated in the current work.

Third-order nonlinear properties of a silica niobate nanocomposite

We have investigated the third-order nonlinear optical response of a glass-ceramic containing sodium niobate (NaNbO3) nanocrystals using picosecond Z-scan and femtosecond optical Kerr gate techniques at 1064 nm and 800 nm, respectively. The results show a large dependence of the nonlinear refraction index (n2) on the volume fraction of NaNbO3 crystallites. Nonlinear absorption is negligible for...
